On October 2, 1919 the Institute of People’s Education was founded in the city of Perm. On September 9, 1921 the Institute of People’s Education was reorganized into Perm Pedagogical Institute. In 1994 according to the results of the state certification procedure the Institute acquired its current status of a university. Now Perm State Pedagogical University is one of the centres for Education, Culture and scientific research in Western Ural (Russian Federation).

 

About 8 000 students are taught at 13 faculties by 460 members of academic staff (more than half of whom hold a doctorate degree).
