RUSSIAN LANGUAGE AND CULTURE
The first semester of the 2010/11 academic year consists of 13 working weeks. There are 14 hours of classes per week (classes focussed on the practical formation and application of Russian and a series of lectures on Russian literature – 12 hours; the linguistic-cultural programme – 2 hours.) Altogether this makes up 182 hours in the first semester.
The cost of the study programme for students in the first semester is 650-700 euros per person (in a class of five students); 1050-1100 euros per person (in a group of three students).
There are 6-8 hours individual lessons per week. The cost of individual lessons (1-2 people) is 1300 – 1400 euros per person for 78 hours of study.
The second semester is by far longer than the first, consisting of 18 working weeks. There are 14 hours of classes per week. In the second semester this makes up 252 hours. The cost of the study programme for students in the second semester is 850-900 euros per person (in a class of five students); 1420-1480 euros per person (in a group of three students).
There are 6-8 hours individual lessons per week. The cost of individual lessons (1-2 people) is 1800 – 1900 euros per person for 108 hours of study.
Suggested topics of study for groups of students in the second semester:
1) Development of speaking skills – communication, analysis of texts – 48 hours
2) Grammar (average level) – 42 hours
3) Vocabulary, word-formation – 42 hours
4) Phonetics (pronunciation, reading, semantic perception) – 20 hours
5) Cultural programme – 54 hours
6) A series of lectures on Russian literature – 40 hours
Altogether: 252 hours
Suggested topics of study for individual lessons in the second semester:
1) Development of speaking skills – communication, analysis of texts – 36 hours
2) Grammar (average level) – 36 hours
3) Phonetics, vocabulary, word-formation – 36 hours
Altogether: 108 hours
*There is an individual cultural programme.
**Russian literature (students have the choice as to which types of lectures they will attend).
Variations to the study programme are possible, taking into account your suggestions and personal preferences.
The cultural side of the study programme is offered for both semesters.
Currently we offer students accommodation with families. It is likely that these will be families of students from the Faculty of Philology. Alternatively there are other accommodation options.
